International Short Film Festival

Today on the 1st of  August,  Kauri went to the Auckland Civic theatre to watch 14 short film's from around the world, because it is New Zealand international film festival day. I had a lot of favourites but my top 3 are these ones down here.

In this one there was a ball that went down obstacles and flipped, turned and rolled. It was soooooo satisfying as well!

This one because  it had a message of friendship and working together. They got angry at each other because there was a lot happening on the bottom floor and the top floor of each apartment. At the end they worked together to make apartment flats because the old apartments fell down ( it was to old)

Now, this one was the funniest to me because the characters were funny and everything was great. There was a star jumper, boxer, weight lifters, a guy that just came out of his shower drying his... and a fat man on a tread mill! They made a cool musical beat and it got faster and faster.

This was really fun to go to because my friends were there, there was animated and also real life films.

Matariki, last DLO

This is my Matariki DLO and my last one of the term( I think). We did this on Matariki day and did some fun activities.

Bird Talk

It is Green Week at Owairaka School and we are learning about native birds of New Zealand. Native means that it will only belong to New Zealand. This morning room 24 and many other classes went to the hall to learn about birds and predators and what they eat. We saw a Tui, owl, a giant hawk,Kereru ,But I can't remember the other birds. ( Don't worry they were stuffed)

One fact I found very interesting was that owl's hunt at night, that is why they have big eyes, It is like night vision goggles in eye shaped!

To look after our New Zealand birds we need to hunt possums our birds predators! Here are some photos.

It was really fun to learn about our native birds!

Compare and Contrast

I did a compare and contrast art work. We had to think of one of our heroes and think of what is the same and what is different between us both. I did my sister because she is a good netball er and I want to be as good as her when I'm older. This was a fun activity to do with google drawings. Here is my art work that I did!

What is a Hero!

1. What is a hero? Find a definition and write it into your own words. A hero is someone you look up at and admire. Someone who helps you everyday and it doesn't have to be someone in a cape because anyone is a hero! MY heroes are my parents.
2. What is the difference between being a hero and being an idol? A hero is someone who helps you if you fall and helps you get back up and an idol is like a famous singer or actor that you want to meet.
3. What makes a person a hero? If that person is responsible, focused, on task, helping and if they take care of others and care about them.

Pep Talk

Pablo Picasso Art

In room 24 we are studying about a famous artist named Pablo Picasso. Pablo was born in Spain and passed away in France.

Have you heard of him before? I had to pick an art work that I liked that he painted. I like his paintings because they are unique and unlike other artist. Here is the painting that I chose!

And it is not ugly, it is very different and easy for other people to do. Can you see the tears that the lady is crying out?  Do you agree that this is unique or do you disagree that this is unique?

Word Cloud Art

This is my word cloud art that I have done for the first time. It was really fun because I got to pick the image, the colour, the font and the words. We are doing this to learn how to use more adjectives and because this terms theme is everyday heroes. Have you ever tried to do one before, because it is really fun to do? The writing had something to do with heroes, so what describes a hero what exactly is a hero and who our hero is. Who is your hero and why? Hope you enjoy my work and the words I put on.

Mission To Mars DLO!

Here is my first DLO I did in room 24. We had to make a backpack to take to Mars ( not for real)
and pick out of somethings to take in the backpack. We made a post card to send to a family member or a friend. I sent it to my older brother and sister. Here is my DLO and the picture of my backpack.

Venus Slides

This is my Venus DLO on the DLO there is a genial.y post card and a lot of facts. You can check out my genial.y and find some interesting facts like, Venus is the the second planet from the Sun but still is the hottest.

Saturn DLO

This is my Saturn DLO and it has all you need to know about Saturn. Saturn is a gas giant and it's rings are made out of rocks and ice also from asteroids and moons that bump into the planet.

Art from the Past

These are my top favourite art works that I have done from the past. My Mars backpack and my Face art. I like my face art because I liked using different colours and doing little details on it. I like My backpack because it has a upside down doughnut on it ( big accident!) and it is very colourful. HERE ARE SOME PICTURES!

I really enjoyed doing this art, but it took quite a while to finish it. BUT STILL FINISHED! 

Learning Journal 2019

On the 4th of July I have learning discussions with Miss Mills. I made a slide show for my parents to look at here it is. 
I enjoyed making it because I liked reflecting on my past and putting images and backgrounds on the slides!
