The Escalator

Here I have done another piece of writing about this picture
We are focusing on genres again. I will show you my Fantasy piece that I did for this picture.

Fantasy:
Patiently, the woman travels up the glowing escalator, awaiting her warm cozy home.  Loads of shopping bags full her aching hands, as she strolls towards the center of the woods.

“Come here, trees, I need to go, take me back to my hidden home.” She roars clearly to the forbidden trees. Suddenly, the landscape moves swiftly like it's a disco in the woods.
THUMP! CRACKLE! Transformed, the trees approach the woman and slightly bend to lift her like she’s going into an elevator.
She spots her unknown house and hops of the elevator trees. Thankful, she bells with a merry grin. “Thank you trees for taking me home, you can go now.” She says.

Why Is Jean Batten famous?

Hello! Like last week with Sir Edmund Hillary, we are now doing Jean Batten. We had to answer the same question but instead about Jean Batten.
Here are some reasons why I think Jean Batten is famous.

  • She flew solo from England to New Zealand
  • She flew solo from England to Australia
  • She was honored by Te Arawa
  • She went all around the globe in her De Havilland Gipsy Moths and her Percival Gull Six.

Do you know who Jean Batten is? Would you like to be a pilot when you grow up? Thanks for looking at my blog! BLOG YA LATER!

Improving our Blogpost

Last term Room 24 did an activity about improving our blog posts. I chose to improve my t-shirt one that I designed for Carla from 'There's a Boy In The Girls' Bathroom'.

Here is my improvement.

You can click on it to see it better.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post! Do you think that the after version is better than the before? BLOG YA LATER!

Dragon Eye

This Week Room 24 wrote about this picture
We are doing genres again this term. The 3 genres that we had to write with are:
Thriller, Drama, Fantasy
I will be showing my thriller.

Here is my writing!

Calmly, the young girl skips across the fields of trees and grass, hoping her family is not too worried about her being there.
She finds a strange bridge curving over land, and perches onto it. The bridge is a wonderland, as it is filled with luminous flowers. Daydreaming, she dangles her legs off the edge, looking at the birds gliding through the air.
She glances into the running stream beneath her, cheerful fish jump up and down like they’re on a trampoline.
Suddenly, her heart froze. A human body stands behind her, as she can see in the reflection. Blood slobber runs like a waterfall from his mouth. Her hand catches the fresh drips of blood.

I hope you enjoyed reading my story. What do you think I could of changed? BLOG YA LATER!

Why is Sir Edmund Hillary famous?

Hello! This week kauri team have been learning about 20th century explorers. We have mostly been focusing on Sir Edmund Hillary. Room 24 had to answer this question:
Why is Sir Edmund Hillary Famous?
Here is why I think he is famous.

  • Most people see him on the $5 note, but this is only in NZ.
  • He was the first person to climb to the top of Mt Everest
  • He got knighted by Queen Elizabeth ll.
  • He built the first school in the Himalayan Mountains, Nepal.

Those are some of the reasons why I think Sir Edmund Hillary is famous.

Why do you think Sir Edmund Hillary is famous?

Genre Writing: Trapping the Sun

Here is another genre writing that I have been working on. It is a short story but.............it is still good! I hope that you enjoy reading this. If you have any feedback but it in the comments.

HERE IS MY PIECE!

Solemnly, the girl strolls across the rocky terrain. Her hands are butter as she grips onto the rope that wraps around the immense ball of gas. In return of her shady dark planet.

Day turns into night and clouds turn into stars, as the girl takes a short break from her exhausting hike. Carefully, she ties the thick rope around a solid rock that is a block of steel.

Can you find the metaphors? There are 2 of them. Thanks for checking out my blog! BLOG YA LATER!😁

Genre Writing: Skypath

This week I wrote some different genres of writing for the sky path. I picked the horror story (AGAIN) to put on my blog. This weeks aim was to put similes and metaphors into the writing.

Her is my piece!
Mist is shattered around, filling the sky with sadness. Tired, the elderly woman hikes up the dirt covered immense hill. Feeling mysterious taps on her shoulder, every 5th step she took.
Painfully, she slips, stabbing her chest right into her walking stick. “HELP!” she screeches, with pain. Her chest throbbed and her chest pounds out of her skin.  But little does she know, know one can hear her in the middle of nowhere.
Suddenly, a strange little figure walked towards her, like he was a lost dog looking for his owner . Then she noticed, he had a dent in his head, a bleeding hand dangling off his glitchy arm, and a shiny sharp object that was as shiny as a polished diamond. It was covered in never ending dripping blood.

What do you think of my writing? Can you spot the metaphors?
