Science Session with Music

Today Room 24 did another science session. Today's session was about volume and the pitch of sounds. We used small and big musical instruments to investigate. I learned that short vibration is high pitch and long vibration is low pitch. When my table played with the triangles. Me and my friend noticed that when you hold the top and hit it, you can feel the vibration going through the triangle.

HERE ARE SOME PHOTOS!

Genre: Sick Sentences

HELLO! This week Room 24 have been learning about genre's and how to use them in writing.

We had to fix this sentence and change it into different kind of stories: The man sat on the bench. He held the flowers in his hands.

Here is my Drama and Horror stories.

Drama

In his head, the man sings his wife's favourite song and tears start to drip down his wrinkly face. He closes his eyes and looks back to him and his wife arguing in the car. Tears drip down his kids face, like a never ending waterfall. They sit in the back of the car, frightened by the words passing between their parents. Stressed and distracted, in the next moment he drifts off the cliff killing his wife and children.

GASP! Suddenly, he awakes, and is back sitting on the cold demolished bench. Surrounded by loneliness and mist.

Horror

Sadly, the exhausted man sits quietly on the old bench. Peacefully, a red rose drifts down, like a peaceful ballerina, and lands on the man's wrinkly hands. The rose is covered in deadly blood, with a bit of human flesh sprinkled on the top, like a delicious cold sundae. Suddenly, he starts to see spirits running rapidly around him, and talking to him. “AHHHHHHHH” a terror scream echoes through the mans hurting ear. Mysteriously, he sees a dark shadow, scraping his metal and wooden tool on the concrete. In the distance, the shadow stops for a second, and suddenly starts to run swiftly towards the sleepy old man.

In the morning, the police found him lying on the ground with a shovel stabbed into his head.

I hope that you enjoyed reading my genre stories that I have been working on in the past couple of days. What is your favourite genre to use?

Sound Experiment

Yesterday, Room 24 did 2 experiments about sound. Sound can be heard by your ears or you can even feel sound!

The first experiment we used...

  • A bowl
  • Sprinkles
  • Glad Wrap
This experiment was about seeing sound. This happened by seeing the sprinkles jump up and down. We had to low hummmm to see that.

The second experiment we used...

  • Cups
  • String
In the experiment we paired up. I went with my friend Deborah. Each pair got 2 cups and some string. You attach them together, and you can talk and listen through the cups. I learnt that this happens because of the string in the middle. When we talk the sound bounces of the string, towards the other person's cup. You can hear each other, as long as the string is straight and the string is attached.

We tried doing different things with the cups, like...
  • Talking from round the corner
  • Putting a not in the middle of the string
  • making the string sorter

Here are some photos!

Have you ever tried any of these experiments? My favourite was definitely the cup experiment! BLOG YA LATER!😊

Party Game

Today and Yesterday, I was working on a party game. I had to make up a party game in a creative way. What I did, is I got a real party game and changed it up a little. I chose pin the tail on the donkey, but instead I named it pin the tail on the human, blindfolded!

Here is more details!

Number of players: 4-100 (or in between)
What will you need:
Different coloured tails with a material that sticks to Velcro
Velcro belts
Blindfolds
Humans!

How to Play:

Put humans in a big empty space. Give each human a blindfold, a belt and each 3 different coloured tails. Each human has to have 3 coloured tails, but the same colour. Every other human also has 3 tails, but different colours from the rest. Everybody has 30 seconds to stick their tails on another human’s bottom in the game. After 30 seconds, you can tell who won, by seeing what colours made it onto a humans bottom. Whoever finished their tails and has put them onto a human’s bottom successfully, will win something of the birthday person’s choice.

What is your favourite party game?

Responding to Carla's Letter

Hello! The must do for this week is to respond to the letter that Carla wrote to Bradley. Here I have written my own letter and pretending that am Bradley responding.

Here is my letter!
Understanding
                                                         Caring
Smart
Lovely
Carla
Hi Carla,
Bradley here, I really wish you didn't have to go.
Why did you have to leave me with no friends?
Do you think that I can just talk to my stuffed animals like
I usually do!? (Don’t answer that) All my feelings are changing
into old Bradley feelings. But I don’t need you to change them .

To be honest I got a haircut for Colleen's birthday and came
to see you at school. I was hoping that you would be there,
but you weren’t.

I love the book very much, but when I look at it, I think of
you and burst into tears. Please come back, whoever told you
to go, shouldn't do that to a good person. You are doing good
for the school, and you don’t deserve what you have gotten.

I hope that you can forgive me for shouting and getting mad
at you, it’s just that you told me that you were leaving, when
everything was going very well.
Please come back and stay with me!

I still hate you, but love you,
Love from Bradley.

I hope that you enjoyed my letter that I wrote! How would you feel if you were Bradley and Carla was leaving?

Milk Science Experiment

This Afternoon, Room 24 did another fun experiment. In this experiment we learnt about fat and soap. We also watched a video about germs and where they are. The detergent makes the food colouring and fat in the milk dance around in the bowl.

For this experiment you will need...

  • Milk (Whole)
  • Food colouring
  • Detergent
  • Cotton buds
  • Bowl
When you add fat and soap together, the milk which has fat and the soap collide and this reaction can only be seen if you use food colouring. Or else it would just be plain white milk.
HERE ARE SOME PHOTOS!

This is my tables one.

Have you tried this experiment before? BLOG YA LATER!

First Science Session

HEY! On Monday Afternoon Room 24  had a science session. We played with Non- Newtonian fluid, this is usually called 'oobleck'. I was just in time to play with it before we packed up.

Oobleck, is a solid and also a liquid. When you relax your hand it will melt on your hand, but when you put presser on it it won't.

If you want to try this at home you will only need...

  • Cornflour or Cornstarch
  • Water
*Warning* May make big mess! HERE ARE SOME PHOTOS!

Book Cover

HELLO! Today I have made a cover for the book in 'There's a boy in the girls bathroom.'

The book in the book is called 'My parents didn't steal an elephant', and I think it is very creative how Louis Sachar wrote another book to put in the story.

Here is my cover!

Garage Design

Hello! In this blog post I am blogging about what the garage looks like in 'My parents didn't steal an elephant' (the book in the story), with that horrible purple wallpaper with yellow polka dots on it.

Here is a picture of the garage.

I enjoyed making this today and I find it funny that they decided to put that wallpaper with concrete floor.

What else do you think I could put in here? BLOG YA LATER!😊

Carla's Brand New T-shirt!

Hello Bloggers! Here I have done another can do activity for there's a boy in the girls bathroom. This activity was to design a t-shirt for Carla, who is the school counselor. Carla is a calm and creative person. She is helpful to Bradley and she likes it when he talks about his problems. She likes to wear very unique and fun t-shirts. I tried to make it not only a t-shirt that Carla would want to wear, but also a t-shirt that I would like to wear. HERE IT IS!

Hope you like my t-shirt! I enjoyed making this, this week. Have you ever designed a t-shirt? What do you think I could of changed or done better?

Bradley's Imaginary Monster

In the story Carla asked Bradley to write a list of topics to talk about at there next meeting. But, of course he threw it away. When he got to Carla's little room he wanted to talk about monsters from space. After there talk, Bradley drew a picture of  a monster and Room 24 recreated his monster in a google drawing!

HERE IS MY MONSTER!

Do you think this is what Bradley's monster looked like?
